Trip to Calgary Stampede
Got on bus in Brigham City to go with Hyde group on 9 july 2018 Easy ride from Perry to Butte Montana passed the Clark Canyon reservoir and down Beaverhead river to big cattle country around Dillon.
Travelled through the Flathead valley to Whitefish for evening
Drove around the south border of Glacier National Park to Many Glaciers for spectacular view.
Crossed the Canadian boarder for trip to Waterton Lakes National Park and stayed at the Prince of Wales hotel. Took boat ride to head of lake and noticed that mountains on north side of lake had all been burned the previous year.
Travelled on to Calgary by way of Cardston. Toured the temple by using my recommend ; and saw the baptistry while group waited outside. The highway was well manicured with round bales of hay all along the right of way.
We arrived in Calgary in time to see the Greatest Show On Earth or the Chuckwagon races. The races were followed by a 90 minute outdoor show of dancers and singers with fireworks at the end. The second day of the Stampede was a World Class Rodeo after which we toured the concessions and livestock exhibits where the young kids tried to milk a cow. It was just like a very crowded county fair. We tried to buy an ice cream cone but was refused using U.S money.
We were booked in the Delta Marriott hotel for three nights
The next day we travelled to Banffandsp; National Park with a stop at Moraine Lake. It was beautiful but the crowd was so great that the road into the lake was closed later on because of the lack of parking space. We then drove down town for a few hours of shopping
On Sunday we travelled to Missoula Montana with a stop on the way at Glacier National Park. We boarded touring vehicles (jammers) for a trip up the Going to the Sun road. We saw one shaggy old goat on Logan pass which finished our sight of wild life. We had seen a deer, a bear and a moose . We travelled on the opposite side of Flathead Lake on our way to Missoula where we spent the night at the Hilton Garden Inn.
With a quick trip to perry we arrived home at 4:30 PM.
